As the world hotly awaits the release of next-gen consoles it’d be easy to assume that developers would take their foot off the pedal regarding releases. However, it’s clear this is not the case, as this fall’s line-up remains jam-packed with exciting new releases across the board.

That said, let’s dive into the games releasing across consoles and PC in September 2020.

Marvel’s Avengers (PC, PS4, XBO, Stadia) – September 4

Published by Square Enix and developed by Crystal Dynamics, Marvel’s Avengers sees you take control of, well, Marvel’s Avengers. Blending an original, cinematic story with single-player and co-op gameplay (online only). Currently you can brawl your way through this action-adventure as Captain America, Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, Black Widow and Ms. Marvel—with more characters said to be coming soon after release. And for any Spider-Man fans, he is playable exclusively on the PlayStation versions of the game.

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2 (PC, PS4, XBO) – September 4

Reprising the very roots of the legendary Pro Skater series, developer Vicarious Visions have brought the game into the new decade—equipping the title with updated tricks, objectives, unlockables and, everyone’s favourite, “create-a-skater” and “create-a-park” modes. All playable in glorious split-screen, as well as online.

Necromunda: Underhive Wars (PC, PS4, XBO) – September 8

In this tactical RPG delve deep below the nightmarish cities of Necromunda into the tunnels of the Underhive where gangs battle bitter personal wars for wealth, survival and the honour of their houses. Equipped with a rich narrative, this Warhammer 40,000 spin-off can be enjoyed solo or up with up to 4 players online.

Spelunky 2 (PS4) – September 15, (PC) – September 29

Crysis Remastered (PC, PS4, XBO, Switch) – September 18

This reboot of the legendary FPS hailing from 2007, provided players with countless ways to navigate and meet it’s worlds objectives. Bringing it into the 2020s, with an entire remaster will allow a whole new generation to experience it’s thrills.

WWE 2K Battlegrounds (PC, PS4, XBO, Switch, Stadia) – September 18

Shaking up the traditional WWE formula which idealises realistic bodies beating each other senseless, WEE 2K Battlegrounds provides a somewhat light-hearted, cartoony aesthetic. Featuring a swath of game-modes, full customisation and superstars such as Hulk Hogan and Jake “The Snake” Roberts, Battlegrounds is a new take on a long-standing formula.

Mafia: Definitive Edition (PC, PS4, XBO, Stadia) – September 25

Remaking a game from almost two decades ago is no easy task. However Hangar 13’s Mafia: Definitive Edition hopes to build upon the classic title, expanding the story while delivering the classic Italian-American narrative. Get ready to play as Tommy Angelo, grasping a Tommy Gun in this 1930s Mafia action-adventure.

The Walking Dead: Onslaught (PC VR, PSVR) – September 29

Developed and published by Survios (a different team than the one behind The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners), Onslaught draws its inspiration from AMC’s hit show, delivering a grim, survival horror equipped with an original campaign.

Baldur’s Gate 3 (PC, Stadia) – September 30

Emerging in early access, the long awaited sequel to the 2004 classic dungeon-crawling RPG promises rich turn-based hack-and-slash gameplay alongside an expansion on the universe’s narrative. The game, developed by Larian Studios, can be enjoyed either solo or in co-op.
